AMIMOTO: WordPress + Amazon Web Services
was held on 3rd February 2016 from 6-8 PM at NetCoworking Space.
NetCoworking Space is located at rue de Magdebourg, a street that’s few minutes away from the Eiffel Tower.
It’s a cool and hip space for its residents, with complete tools for presentations, meetings and events. So their space is perfect for our hands-on workshop.
We’ve setup the standing posters inside and we gave away AMIMOTO swag like “I’m AMIMOTO Compatible” t-shirts, stickers, postcards and AWS Credits.
We introduced our team from DigitalCube, what we do, our WordPress Community Contributions, WordPress on AWS and AMIMOTO.
During the presentation and hands-on session, the FAQs were:
If the free trial finishes, what should I do to continue using WordPress Powered by AMIMOTO (HHVM)?
You will receive an email notification upon signing up to WordPress Powered by AMIMOTO (HHVM) including the date of trial expiration. In the middle of the trial period, you’ll receive another notification and a day before the expiration also.
Once the trial expires, you will automatically be subscribed to a paid hourly version.
How do I move my blog to AMIMOTO?
In AMIMOTO Managed Hosting option, we migrate your data. Initial data migration is free.
In the Self Hosting option, we can help with data migration and we’re currently working on a dedicated solution. For now data migration process is explained very well in Codex or you can use a plugin like duplicator.
How do I manage my website on AMIMOTO?
Managing WordPress isn’t different from any other WordPress, connecting over SFTP or to database depends which option did the user choose – self hosting or managed. More details are found at the hands-on presentation below.
How to configure a domain?
How to translate the website to make it accessible for users in different countries?
Everything depends how complicated the website is, it can be translated for example using a plugin like Bogo.
To make it accessible for users in different countries, depending on the needs, the website can be located in the datacenter closest to the user.
If clients are located all over the world the WP Booster CDN can be used.
How do I connect to phpMyAdmin? Is it safe to leave the access enabled?
By default it’s disabled and may be enabled over SSH but for security reasons it’s suggested to disable it after working on it.
Why does AMIMOTO use CyberDuck as the FTP client?
Cyberduck is open source, it works on every platform (Mac, Win, Linux) and SFTP Client can be used.
